OzDeals ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the OzDeals mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account information: email address and user ID when you create an account
Profile information: username and profile photo (optional)
User-generated content: deals, comments, and alerts you post
Photos: images you upload when posting a deal or setting a profile photo
Search history: searches you perform within the app
App interactions: votes, saves, follows, and other in-app actions
Device identifiers: FCM tokens for push notifications
Crash logs: error reports to help us fix bugs
IP address: automatically collected by Firebase as part of its infrastructure

2. How We Use Your Information

To operate and improve the app
To authenticate you and manage your account
To send push notifications about deals and activity relevant to you
To send account-related emails (email verification, password reset)
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
To analyse app usage and performance

3. Information Shared with Others

Your username, profile photo, posted deals, and comments are visible to all users of the app.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We use the following third-party services, which may receive some of your data:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, storage, analytics, and push notifications
Google Sign-In — optional sign-in method
Sign in with Apple — optional sign-in method
External apps (via share feature) — when you share a deal, the deal title and URL may be passed to the app you choose to share with (e.g. WhatsApp, Messages). We have no control over how those apps handle this data.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

Your profile, email, saved deals, alerts, and follow relationships are permanently deleted
Deals and comments you posted remain visible but are anonymised — your username is replaced with "Deleted User"

5. Your Rights

You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account.

6. Children's Privacy

OzDeals is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We use Firebase's security infrastructure to protect your data.

8. Australian Privacy Act

OzDeals is operated from Australia and complies with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with the APPs, you may contact us at ozdeals.contact@gmail.com or lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
